Is there a genre of music that influences your writing/thinking? Do you listen to music while you write?
There’s a coffee shop near me where I go to write a few times a week because I love the music–a soft rock from the 70’s and 80’s. Since I was writing a memoir, the music was helpful since I was writing about that same time period.
When I’m at home writing I keep it somewhat quiet or a light jazz playing softly in the background.
Favorite non-reading activity?
Taking a nature walk.
Is your go to comfort food sweet or savory? Is it something you make yourself? Does food inspire your writing?
Savory. My favorite go to food is a good old grilled cheese with tomato soup. I make it myself with a couple different types of cheeses and prefer sour dough bread.
Not all books are for all readers… when you start a book and you just don’t like it, how long do you read until you bail?
I try to give it my best shot. I’ll put the book down a few times and then pick it back up and try again. Most of the time I make it about a quarter of the way.
Do you collect anything? If so, what, why, and for how long?
I love to collect stones and seashells when I am anywhere near a beach. Whenever I travel, I pick up a stone along the way and tuck it into my pocket. I’ve been doing this since I was a child. I have a collection of rocks and seashells in a large glass canister that I keep in my office from everywhere I’ve traveled to.
